Columbian Lawyers Honor Brooklyn’s
Appellate Justice A. Gail Prudenti With Rapallo Award
Approximately 700 people showed up at The Waldorf Astoria hotel on Park Avenue over the weekend, where the Columbian Lawyers Association of the First Judicial Department honored Brooklyn’s Justice A. Gail Prudenti with its annual Rapallo Award.
Hon. Prudenti, the presiding justice of the Appellate Division Second Department, which sits on Monroe Place in Brooklyn Heights, joins the likes of U.S. Supreme Court Justices Antonin Scalia and Samuel Alito Jr., former U.S. Attorney General Benjamin Civiletti, former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and former New York Governor George Pataki, who have all received the prestigious award.
Columbian Lawyers Association board member Thomas Michael Laquercia was the Rapallo luncheon chairman, and New York State Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman presented Prudenti with the Rapallo Award.
Former Appellate Division Second Department Presiding Justice Guy Mangano received the Rapallo in 1985. The most recent Brooklyn judge to receive the Rapallo Award, prior to Prudenti, was Appellate Term Presiding Justice Michael Pesce, who won the award in 2006.
